It's time once again to take a deep dive into the Georgia High School Girls Basketball scene to select our Player of the Week. We seek your assistance and ask you to look at this week's candidates and vote for the candidate you find most deserving..
As such, we have 10 athletes nominated this week for the SBLive’s Georgia High School Girls Basketball player of the Week award from December 18-23, and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Sunday, December 31st at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced in next week's poll.
Editor’s note: Our corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. This poll is specifically for fans to vote on the players that have been nominated and in no way discredits any other player that may not be mentioned in our poll.
Here are this week's nominees:
Tianna Thompson, Galloway
Thompson went off for 33 points with seven made threes, seven rebounds, five assists, and five steals to help her team take home the Deep South Classic.
Danaya Stokes, Galloway
Stokes had a big-time double-double, with 22 points, 15 rebounds and three steals.
Sydney Glahn, Mount Pisgah
Glahn had a double-double to take down Washington. She finished with 19 points and 14 rebounds.
Julia Sulsa, Heritage
Sulsa stuffed the stat sheet in a blowout win over Terrell. She finished with 20 points, four rebounds, seven assists and five steals.
Dani Tofye, Grayson
Tofye led the charge in a blowout win, as she finished with 21 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block.
Nya Smith, Milton
Smith led all players in all stats with 17 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, seven steals, and three blocks in a win over Lee Huntsville.
Shy Foster, Lamar County
Foster was unguardable in a win over Northgate. She dropped 37 points, almost outscoring the whole Northgate team herself. She also had 10 boards, locking in the double-double, and adding two assists and three steals.
Ashanti Brown, Bryan County
Brown had another double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds in the match-up versus Glynn Academy.
Aubrey Beckham, Hebron Christian
Beckham had herself a night, with five boards, seven assists and 26 points to give her 1,000 career points.
Michel Robbins, Jefferson
Robbins scored 29 points, shooting 11-of-13 with six steals, three rebounds and three assists.
